EPIA 2025 conference will take place in the Gambelas Campus at the University of Algarve (UAlg), situated near Faro and the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Its close proximity to Faro International Airport ensures convenient access for all participants.

Getting here

By air:
The Gambelas Campus is located just 4 km from Faro International Airport, making it easily accessible. A short taxi trip will take approximately 10 minutes.

By public transport:
From Faro city center, you can take local buses operated by Proximo to Gambelas Campus. The journey takes around 20–30 minutes, depending on the route.

By car:
If driving, follow signs toward Faro and then Gambelas. The campus has parking available, and it is conveniently located near the EN125 and A22 (Via do Infante) highway.

By train:
Arrive at Faro Train Station, which connects to major cities in Portugal. From the station, take a taxi or bus to Gambelas Campus

By sea:
You can reach Faro by sea, as the city has a port with the following characteristics: Water depth relatively to the hydrographic zero: 8 meters; Channel: 5.5 meters; Maneuvering basin: 5.5 meters; Water density in the channel and port: salt water – 1.025 Average tide level in BWAV/PMAV: 0.53/3.38 Average tide level in BWAM/PMAM: 1.37/2.63 Seabed: sand 

Where to stay

In Faro there are many accommodation options. The University of Algarve has agreements for special rates in some hotels. There are also several high-end tourist resorts in Vilamoura and Quinta do Lago very close to Faro. Participants will be responsible for their own reservations. We will be providing further information on hotels here shortly.

About Faro

Faro is an ancient city, capital of the Algarve region, in the south of Portugal. It has around 65,000 inhabitants spread over 210 km2, with around 30% of this area being part of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve. The city is bordered to the south by a 19 km long dune, interrupted by openings that connect the sea to the Ria Formosa, forming 3 main islands. 

The islands and their pristine beaches can be visited by boat and one of them, Faro Island, is also accessible by car. The city has excellent conditions for practicing water sports and nature walks.

Faro also boasts contemporary shops, fresh seafood restaurants, and lively nightlife, ensuring a memorable experience for every visitor.
